Instant Pot Brown Rice is a simple and easy recipe that you can make ahead of time and use as needed. Making brown rice in Instant Pot gives fluffy, soft and a little chewy rice every time.

Earlier, cooking Brown Rice on the stove was a bit challenging as sometimes they were not cooked perfectly. But with Instant Pot, I don't need to worry about that. All I need to do is just add rice, water and adjust the timer. Not only brown rice, you can also cook any grain easily using the Instant Pot.

Earlier, I didn't like eating Brown Rice much as it always felt like they were not properly cooked. But now with Instant Pot, I don't have to worry at all and can eat healthy again. They go great with lentils and curry. Click here to check out some healthy ways to include Brown Rice in your diet.

BROWN RICE

RICE & LIQUID RATIO

It is advisable to cook brown rice & water in 1:1. That is, 1 cup of water and 1 cup of rice. But I cook using 1:1.15, it gives more fluffy rice.

1:2 proportion is not required when making in an Instant Pot or any pressure cooker. As the lid is sealed and water cannot evaporate, so cooking in less liquid will result in a perfectly cooked rice.

I usually cook using Vegetable Stock, as it gives a nice flavor to the rice as well.

HOW TO MAKE BROWN RICE

Rinsing - First and foremost step is to rinse the rice so that all the starch gets removed. I first add brown rice in a big strainer and rinse them until water runs out clear or for 1-2 minutes. Then soak the rice in water for 5- 10 minutes.

Pressure Cooking - The next step is to pressure cook, adding water & rice in the Instant Pot. But before that, I add oil in the pot because otherwise the rice will stick at the bottom of the pot.

Then I add water & rice with some salt and give it a stir. Cook at High Pressure for 15 minutes, or using Rice Setting at High-Pressure Level for 15 minutes.

Fluff Rice - The last step is to fluff the rice once the pressure cycle completes. Use a fork or spoon to fluff gently. If you stir then the rice may break.

Then you can season it as needed, or eat it with curry or lentils. Any way you prefer, brown rice will always taste great.
